TEDx, VEDA, and Other Acronyms

It’s been a little while since I wrote a Sunday post. I started these posts to keep myself sane in grad school, to make sure that I went out and did something interesting in my community every week rather than locking myself in my office with my thesis, but somehow lately I’ve been too busy getting out in my community to stay inside and write. There’s been work, and TEDx, and Headshots from the Heart, and lots of writing. Just not here, which is a shame. I really enjoy these lazy Sunday posts where I don’t make a case or an argument, just sort of relax in text.

How to Save Money

So it’s been a busy couple of weeks, hence no post last weekend and some sporadic posts during the week. My Engage case study is coming to a close, and I’ve been working on a lot of things. Busyness isn’t really an excuse, but it’s giving me some good perspective on the things that are actually really important to me, and one of those is these posts. I like having a space to just sort of ramble and be me without having an agenda, like communication, gaming, or philosophy.

My Katy Perry cover last week was a lot of fun to put together, and I’m looking for ward to playing around with some other pop songs, though my musical tastes are a few years behind the times. A Novel Idea

I'm not writing a book. But I read one. I just finished The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, and it's something else. I'm trying to fall in love with novels again, and if I keep finding books like this one, it's going to be easy. The best video I saw this week also comes from John Green, because he's apparently the center of my universe right now. He was in a Hangout with the President. The President of the United States. The idea that somebody who writes books and makes Youtube videos can meet with the President is…

Where’s my Frakkin’ Video?

I know that’s what you’re asking. Well, I hope, anyway. I also hope you’re not a Cylon, because frakkin’ cylons. But the answer is both simple and awesome. I moved it. Partly because as I write this, I’m splitting up the video from last year’s Headshots from the Heart, and partly because I think it’s better to post the video during the week. Other up side? You get two videos, one with talking, and one with a song. For the most part. I’m gonna play it by ear, which is the best way to do it, I think.

The Play’s the Thing

This week, as mentioned in last week's video, I caught Body 13 at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. It was brilliant, full of moments of delicately crafted awkwardness. I'm really excited for PieceMeal on February 20th. When was the last time you went to the theatre? I'm trying to figure it out for a project. We've also got some really awesome Headshots stuff coming down the pipe in the next few weeks, so I'll announce that as it happens. And I made a video, like I do. I have no idea what happened to the camera during the…
