My TA chickens came home to roost this week, and I found my third advisor. 15 hours a day in the office makes Jim a bit of a dull boy, but despite that it’s been a pretty eventful week. The biggest news is that I was at the Project Macfrica Night last night, which was a great time, and that I got accepted to attend TEDxWaterloo. Last year’s TEDx taught me a lot about myself, the kinds of things I want to do, and how I need to change the way I think in order to do them. I’m not sure what will happen at this year’s, but I’m looking forward to it.  (more…)

Weekly Update: Superbowl Sunday

Day Draws to a CloseIt’s Superbowl Sunday, but I’m more than happy to be in my office here at UW working on papers and event materials. I can get all the football updates I want from Twitter, after all. I’ve got a few exciting things to talk about this week, the most exciting of which is that we have a new sponsor for Canvas and Candlelight. Community and Changes

There’s going to be some changes around here in the next few weeks. I’m going to dust, polish up the pages, and get the lead out. And mix metaphors to great effect. Grad school is coming along swimmingly, but I’m not going to be here forever. I’ve realized that it’s high time to start looking for some gainful employment if I want to remain in a position where I can give back and participate in my community. If you, or anyone you know in the Kitchener Waterloo area is looking for someone with excellent writing, communication, critical thinking, and counterfactual skills, drop me a line at jim@realpeoplestuff.com. I’m going to update the site over the next while to reflect that, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m also going to start doing weekly updates, both about what I’m doing professionally, and interesting things going on in the city.
