Lazy Sunday

It’s a lazy Sunday today. The thesis is officially stalled. In a good way. I’ve turned in the final drafts of my first two papers, and I won’t have comments on my last one until tomorrow. So today, I’m putting, cleaning my house, and generally making a nuisance of myself. It leaves me with a lot of thought about what my next step is.  (more…)

Thesis Blues

Late post this week, partly because I’m wrapping up the thesis, but this is something I’ve wanted to talk about. I don’t know if it’s from doing the night shift at the office or just the fluidity of a thesis-based schedule, but more often now I find myself with the thesis blues. The thesis blues are where you realize that you haven’t seen a human who doesn’t live in your house for a week, haven’t been to an event in months, and are starting to forget what your friends look like. Recovering Purpose

First thing’s first. I’m nearing the end of my thesis and hunting for employment, so if you know of any companies who need a writer with excellent critical thinking and counterfactual skills and can throw me a lead, I’d be very grateful. I’m not going to pander too much here about getting a job, but I’d be a fool if I didn’t at least mention it. My thoughts this week aren’t about the work I could be doing though, but about the work I am doing.  (more…)

Ottawa Memories

This week’s post is late because I just got back from a vacation. As you can guess from the title, I went to Ottawa. A friend and I wanted to do some tourist stuff for her birthday, and it was my grandfather’s 90th birthday this weekend. I saw Parliament Hill cats, street performers, ate at a great jazz bar, and nearly walked my feet off on some pretty great tours. And I was sitting here puttering and writing about that until I remembered something that made me delete all of it. It just hit me.  (more…)
