Desert Bus

A day late this week because of the G33k Art Show, which was incredible. With the help of my niece, the piano of Tom Nagy, and the KW community, my jars raised $84 and change for children’s hospitals. I also bought some great art. Videos to come starting tomorrow. But I’ll write about that a bit on Wednesday. This was also the week of Desert Bus for Hope, a charity event that literally changed my life. I watched it almost non-stop, taking notes and learning things for Headshots from the Heart, and I’m continually inspired by the efforts of the Desert Bus crew and their community.

I laughed and cried with them this year, and while I envy their reach and the money they can raise for the cause (they raised over $520, 000 this year), they always remind me that it’s not about the money. It’s about creating a community and helping people and about giving people the opportunity to use the things they love to make the world better. For them, it’s comedy, theatre, and crafts. For us it’s games and our love for them.

It’s tough sometimes, and I’m really thankful for them reminding me how it can be wonderful. In fact, I think I’m going to email them and tell them that. I’ll see you next week with a thing.
