October Madness, part 2

It’s been just about a year since I started posting here, and I’m pleased about two things. First, things in my life haven’t slowed down at all. Second, they’re getting better. There’s definite progress happening, and I can see that by reading the last eight months of posts. Last October I was getting used to grad school and getting ready to speak at Ignite. This month, well, it’s time for one of those “What I’m up to” posts.

Right now I’m updating the Headshots from the Heart site, in preparation for next year’s event, because there will be a 2013 event, and it’s going to be awesome. We’ve got a great team, and are already building community support. And yes, we’ll be playing Borderlands 2!

I’m also practicing songs for two performances I have next week. Argyle Speedo will be playing  at the Kwartzlab 3rd anniversary party on Friday the 19th, and the Mayor’s Souper Sampler in Cambridge on Saturday the 20th, which is also the day I convocate to get my actual degree. Kwartzlab will be a blast, and all of the funds from the Souper Sampler go to Meals on Wheels.

Also, and this is the really big news I suppose., I got into Engage! KW! That’s a lot of exclamation points. Hm. Note about branding: make exclamation points less awkward. Anyway, I did. It’s a educational program to develop community leaders, run by the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, and if what I’ve seen from its past graduates is any indication, I’m going to learn a lot. Our first meeting is this week, and I’m really interested in seeing where things go from here, and being better able to be a part of my community.

I also hope to have some new projects underway in the next week, and I want to devote some posts to looking for jobs and how I’m doing that, as well as revamping the site a bit. I’ve been taking it a bit easy for the last few weeks, relaxing from school, but it’s time to get really serious.

Anyway, I have to run to get ready for the D&D livestream today, but we’ll talk soon.
